smidey
I just witnessed 2 of my fryeri mating. quite amazing to watch, this is the first time i've seen africans spawn. the female has been trying to start all afternoon but nothing happened. then my smart wife suggested i turn the light off & within 2 minutes it started. i have started turning the light on for only 4 hours per day for the last 4 weeks, since i started this my yellows have had fry, my red zeb is currently holding & now my fryeri are mating. nothing else to do but mate when light is limited it seems

smidey
been watching her a bit today. shes not feeding & hasn't got much of a "chin". I did get a glimpse of an egg or two in her mouth but will see how many fry we end up with.

smidey
thats cool, its all a learning curve. do fryeri lack the skills first time up?
ryanjury
I think all fish take a few times to get the hang of it and mature enough to produce descent brood's.. Thats not to say they wont hold full term, I have had plenty successfully hold the first time.
smidey
yeah, my yellows had fry that i stripped last week & she had 12 on first spawn. she would be about 2 1/2 inches long so that was alot of fish for her small mouth. & i did see my convict pick up 4 fryeri eggs too.
