Dixon1990
I also would like to know if they are any good, i saw one on trademe before and was going to buy it. Would they suit a 200L tank or a 60L tank?
evilknieval69
Had one once.... Bought a pressurised system and gave the nutrafin kit away. Not worth bothering IMHO. you could do just as good a job with a coke bottle full of yeast and sugar.... thats all the tablets are and they cost heaps HTH
TM
unit fine if cheap, its the tablets that cost
evil_elmo
i got one for my gf's tank, it works ok but i make my own mix for it its alot easier than making a coke bottle version BUT coke bottle version is alot cheaper but uglier
HummingBird
I use two of them on different tanks, they're worth it just for the ladder diffuser.

evil_elmo
we just use sugar and yeast add sugar to the same amount as they state in the instructions then fill with warm water till about 3/4 full, Mix well then add 1/4teaspoon yeast, mix again.... wagonman
cool sounds easy, i've been doing a search and found a thread on injecting co2 via a soda stream machine. Basically just prepare the bottle as if you are making yourself a drink but only give it 2 or 3 squirts and then tip it in ya tank so i might see how the kit goes and then try the soda stream idea and see what the outcome is. HummingBird
It's also important to add some baking soda to the co2 mixture to boost the water hardness so your pH doesn't fluctuate. There are plenty of recipes online if you google it.
wagonman
okay so i got it all setup and it seems to be working okay. what i was wondering was the bubbles seem to travel up the ladder thing then just float to the top and pop. does that sound right? Think thats right. Diffuser is just to used to get more water movement over the surface of the bubble i think. All i use is a airstone
