Fluffypants
I have just discovered fry in our danio tank. :bounce: Luckily I checked the water bucket before I threw it on the garden. What I thought was pooh, was swimming and on closer inspection turned out to be fry. I don't have the heart to chuck them out so thought I would have a go at raising them. What do I feed them and what is the best way to raise them? They are about 2mm long and still in the bucket at the moment.

Loopy
Oh i just re-read your post. Have you found somewhere to put the fry? If not perhapes an ice cream container floating in the top of you main tank will do? Or failing that if you want to borrow one of our little tanks to set up for a while you are welcome to. I can't offer you any heaters at the moment as they all seem to be in use and you will have to pop over to pick up the tank but there is one here if you want. SpidersWeb
I found mine ate that powdered fry food you can get from LFS once they'd started free-swimming, if yours are big enough to look like little fish then crumbled flake food would probably be an option. Small amounts as often as possible is the winner.
jayci
BBS are super for danio's. I have seen danio fry eat so much BBS that there guts become V shaped.
Rozski
or if you want the low tech method - I chucked mine into a tank with green water....didn't feed them for weeks, they were fine lol. Granted, I am sure they took much much longer to grow than they would have if they got BBS
Fluffypants
No sign of fry anymore. I'll get some infusoria started and have another go in a week or so. Might be a dumb question, but how often do danios breed and what's their gestation period?
SpidersWeb
I've bred a single female twice in one week, although giving them more time and more food and waiting until she's very fat will lead to more fry.
