Tank Update

JK

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Some of you may remember that i setup my tank just prior to christmas, well this is just an update to let you all know that the tank seems tobe going very well at the moment and is functioning well as a community tank. Its a 2ft tank and at present holds:

5 neons tetra

4 bloodfin tetra

1 green corydoras

1 horse faced loache

1 bumble bee goby

3 furcata rainbows (2m/ 1f) - originally had 2 pair but 1 femalel died for unknown reason

so yeah that is my setup at the moment. Wont be adding too many more fish but does anyone have any recommendations as to what else would go well? Bear in mind that I can't really have long finned species due to fear that the bumble bee goby may nip them.

I was thinking of maybe bumping up the number of neons to 8 and maybe adding a borneo sucker altho Im not sure how big these will grow.

gobys like to have friends , they do better with more than less of them,

you could put more loaches in.

do you go to the north shore fish club?

you should go have a look they have an auction that you can buy fish and plants and in april they are doing a behind the scenes tour of Kelly Tarltons (all going well) .

they meet this tuesday at the sunnynook hall

good luck with your tank!!

Hey, no im not a member of the north shore club. Would be keen to see this auction.

I was told bumble bee gobys were good in group if introduced all at the same time but if i introduce some well they may fight?? any ideas on this?

come along to the meeting, its free for the first time so you can see if you like it,

give sue a call 4100222

she will tell you how to get there.

it starts at 7.30pm and there is a auction tonight,

you can get some great tips from some of the members as well as most of them have keeped fish for well over 10yrs, i have had fish all my life and would say its a passion of mine , i have keeped every kind of tropica fish you can get and i have introduced more bumble bee goby into a tank that i had them in for over 6months , just move the tank round a bit if you think the fish will fight when you put them in, because if they have marked a spot and you move it then they dont have a spot to fight over,

good luck

well i might see you at the meeting tonight
