smidey
Hi all, some of you may know that i just got rid of my community fish so i could put my africans from my 2 footer to the 1000mm tank. since they have gone into the larger tank they have started to eat about four times as much food as before. does anyone think this may have something to do with, more space = more energy = more food? herefishiefishie
Nope. Just means you are giving them 4 times the amount of food. Frenchy

Frenchy nope, in the smaller tank they would leave the food & eat it later or have some & the rest after. in the bigger tank they are constantly demanding it by being really active at the top which they did not use to do & in a week i have not seen any food hit the bottom. herefishiefishie
oh, maybe they weren't to comfy in the smaller tank. The bigger room makes them more comfy, active etc.... Usually the food shouldn't hit the floor, or if it does it is gone in seconds. Cichlids should always hang by the top for a feed when you walk past. Must resist urge to over feed. A tip; makes it easy to spot when things are not right too. Frenchy

herefishiefishie
Depends on what you feed. I only feed mine once a day. If the diet is high in flake foods, then twice a day is fine. For me I mix flake, pellets, mysis shrimp... so once is heaps. They might get double feeds on weekends, then they usually get a day of no feed too. {make sure I am not around, I feel like I am teasing the poor buggers when I walk past them} Frenchy
