Faran
Well done! Nice setups with full visibility of the tubes. I think ktttk covered this a couple weeks ago, but if you have good pics it's always nice to share! To make things really interesting, list things like the spawning triggers you used, water chemistry and temps, what you feed them and sex ratios. I found 4 to one a good ratio, actually. Additional males can sometimes cause too much trouble. Would you be suicidal if you had 4 women to yourself? I think he was jumping for joy
Devon
hahahha. Ive got a 3ft with 2 females and 2 males. been trying for weeks to catch smaller male so I can put more females in. When I first go them off rcon021 they bred a cople of times then stopped. None of the females have showed any signs of breeding untill the other day I noticed the larger female had abit of a bulge in her stomach. The other one on the other has a realy sunken in stomach and always had. Alone with all the other females that were in their. perhaps worms??? The males dont have this problem at all tho. Please help me out
Matt
Hi Devon, Are you sure that they are getting enough food? It just seems weird that they have stopped breeding and one has a sunken in stomach :-? . Mine get Zucchini, Pleco Chips, lettuce and silverbeet plus lots of water changes to remove all the waste and have nice fat bellies. Plus they also have driftwood that they munch on constantly. It may be that the female with the sunken in stomach is the least aggressive and is missing out at feeding time Just my opinion, hope it helps. Cheers, Matt
Ktttk
If you want to make sure they are all getting some food, try and put the food in 2 or 3 different areas of the tank. I find that my dominant male tends to chase all the others away when he is feeding so now I put in 2 pieces of vege at either end of the tank and it works well. mr pleco
agreed had similiar problem with royal whipttails when i first got them power fed with courgette and shrimp pellets ..always food in the tank and after about a month they fattenend and spawned ... now still fat lesss feeding but you have to really have more than one piece in at a time and always have food available ..just increase water changes and watch ammonia levels thats all
