jn
Hi guys.. need some advice on a slightly bigger tank. I'm looking at the Rekord 60 which is still pretty small but bigger than my current 34L one! The internal filter really appeals as I understand they're supposed to be quieter than the trickle arrangement on my current tank. (I'd go bigger but I really really don't have the space ) My question is - it only comes with a 15w light. Now I understand the reflector is supposed to improve the amount of light but does anyone have any experience with them? I'm still planning on running a coldwater setup and don't expect that want a jungle of plants but would like to avoid brown algae if at all possible Any comments from you guys? fievels007
I have a Juwel 60, the light seems bright enough. I like the fact that the filter etc are all housed too. Looks nice an tidy and I don't have to worry about damage to my fish. Is nice an quiet.
ljtan55
If you arent gonna put plants thats sweet. The light is only so that you can see the fish anyways Dunno about the brown algae though, you might get it anyways with a new setup, but it works out 1watt per gallon which is pretty decent with a 60L tank imho even with some plants. fievels007
My tank as I stated above is what you are looking at. My plants look great, in fac had to trim them back massively on Saturday. Have had it about 6 months. On Saturday after cleaning out my tank the filter stopped and was a bit hit'n'miss whether it would start again! Apparently this happens from time to time with all filters!? Problem is, today, never having had any previous problems with the tank, I got home from work to find the bulb flickering on and off. It looks to have blown somewhere in it and I guess I'll have to replace it. Little fishies will have to go with dim mood lighting tomorrow! Anyone else have this problem? jn
Thanks for the replies guys I think I've decided on AR510 (next size up from the one I've got now). It's a little more expensive than the specials running on the Juwel tanks right now but it looks to me like maintaining the filter is still easier with everything in the hood. My partner who had been seriously trying to discourage me from getting another tank said he thinks the Aqua one tanks are a slightly better looking unit (mainly I think he means the plastic that the hood is made from!) I won't argue. The AR510 is slightly larger than the Rekord 60 and having a matching one will make a nice 'set' in the room anyway Now all I have to do is dip my hand into my not so deep pockets and pay the 'munnies'! Hope you can work out what's up with your light fievels007. You sure something just isnt' loose? You'd expect a light to last more than 6 months especially when they make a deal about how waterproof they are? Is there a warranty?
markoshark
It could be the starter as well.
fievels007
Would be great to fix it rather than have to buy a new one... what do you mean 'starter'? It does flick on and off, its not like it is just off permanently.
