Fishkeepa
Heya Everyone Lately my male dwarf gouramis have lost their colour and are the same colour as the females. Theyre in a 100L with a few harlequins, a golden algae eater some glass cats and kuhli loaches. I do regular weekly water changes I fed a lot of frozen bloodworms over the last week and one male has got his colour back but the other is rather lathargic and hangs around at the surface or under a plant. He still comes out to feed and is getting a fair share. I thought it might be something to do with ph or something so i got my ph measured and its 7.4 . I read though that they like 6.5 - 7.5. so should his be a problem? I have some peat which i can add to the filter if need be. All help is appreciated Thanks in Advance
evilknieval69
pH of 7.4 should be sweet, as long as its stable Thats the most important part. How long have they been off colour? may be just a phase they are going through, otherwise could have some sort of disease. Cant realy treat until you know what it is though. Got a quarantine tank? Added any new fish lately? water parameters sweet? How old are they? dwarf g's quite often dont have the strongest genes so could be a bit weak?? Fishkeepa
thanks Evil the Ph has always been 7.4 i dont monitor it that regularily ussually every two weeks. They've been off colour for a week. All the other fish are fine. No new fish. waters all sweet. Hopefully will come right.
sharn
perhaps the alpha is the brightest and the less dominant ones are fading? id do a couple extra water changes to see if that has any effect
