Milet
At the moment i have some angelfish, gouramis, surinamensis and a few plecos and a chinese algae eeater. They are all 10cm plus. A family friend has recently bought an electric yellow cichlid without knowing what they are like and its eating all their Tetras and smaller fish. So she is going to give it to me for free this afternoon (she was going to flush it ) Should i put it in a tank with my fish?
Billaney
real shame to flush it , can't she just take it back to the shop she got it from ? If it was me I would NOT put it in with yours.

(im not good with that side of fishkeeping) it will be fine just keep up, small oftern water changes say 15-20% every couple of days till your filter builds up some good bacteria
herefishiefishie
As Billaney said. Just feed the fish in the new tank every 2nd day too. The less the fed, waste etc the slower the water will spike. Frenchy
GZ_Loach
or you could just take some water from an established tank like 20%

herefishiefishie
& humans too  oh or you could just take some water from an established tank like 20% There isn't much bacteria in water at all. Be better using a filter or some gravel form the old tank, to help speed up the process. Then again, it could be better than nothing  Frenchy
