bubblestank
Hi. We're having trouble succesfully diagnosing the lump that has appeared on the left side of our male dwarf gourami just below the lateral line about half way down his body. This is the second time it has appeared in the last 4 months. We've searched the net and every book we have but cant find a definate diagnosis. He sits on the bottom alot with his feelers out in front of him but will eat as usual when its dinner time and will swim to the front to say hello when we approach the tank. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
sharn
the only 'bump' thing i know of is lymphocistis (or somethign like that), i dont think its overly common though. any chance of a pic?
bubblestank
This is a pic of my male dwarf gourami with a lump (the white raised part) Have just discovered that it has burst and a yellowish pink pus like substance is coming out. I have moved him to a quarantine tank and am quite aware that if it is infectious, the bacteria from it is running through the community tank he came from. Have had quite a stressfull day and found my yellow molly dead when i came home. Does any body think that it IS infectious?? http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s190 ... miLump.jpg
TimTam22
maybe its a cut that has got infected, maybe something like furan 2 would be good to use?? sharn can probably help out more.... I would do a water change on your community tank in the mean time untill you hear back from sharn or someone else
SpidersWeb
I'd treat it like its infectious, the puss is likely to be bacteria filled. Furan2 would be a good start.
bubblestank
Have carried out a 10L water change (so i could fill the quarantine tank with water he's used too) He seems to be more happier in there than the community tank Since the lump has burst, it seems to have gotten alot smaller. His colour has improved to a really rich red colour like he was when we bought him. Thank you for comments...it has helped alot!!
bubblestank
Where do i get Furan2 from? Haven't seen it at animates where i usually get most of my fish supplies from (damn wellington city for not having a pet shop!)
