bulldogod
is it alright to use this in cichlid tanks, The red, rough sort of stone??Think its called scoria?
davidb
I have heard that it is best not to use vocanic rocks (obsidian excepted) but I could be wrong... i don't know why- whether it alters the hardness or the pH, i suppose if it made it harder or the pH highter it would be ok wouldn't it (I think to myself). my rule of no volcanic rock probarbly only applies to south american tanks or something. Ask around and see...

Blackadder
I used to use it in my filter and it was fine and I've seen it used in tanks before.
