Hiya all and Merry christmas,

my angels gave me a christmas pressent-eggs!! ( opps didn't get them anything feel kinda bad!!) :(

I have three angels but now i have a couple of dozen eggs on the side of my filter of all places!!

There are definately two that keep "guard" and one of them has what looks like a white egg still attached to it. Is that ok??.

Now, from what i understand white eggs are dead? There are a couple in the laid ones that are white. Do i leave them or remove them??

Any help appericated!!!!! :)

Congrats on your first spawn. The thing sticking out of the female is her ovipositor - she uses that to lay her eggs. The male organ is way smaller and thinner. I used to get stressed by the way the female ovipositor looks but they recover fine in my experience. Leave the eggs, they will eat the white ones, and if you are lucky they won't eat any of the ok ones, and you will have some babies soon. Good luck!

Hi aqua, congrats. exactly the same thing happened to me and i had to ask on this forum whose eggs they were. i had no clue. anyway my first lot of eggs got eaten by the parents and so i moved them to a tank of their own and after their next lot of eggs became wigglers, i removed mum and dad. i have now got 7 babies who are ten times the size they were when they were born, all thanks to the people of this forum. without advice from these people, none of my babies woulld have survived. i am very grateful.

but one thing you have to know in advance, make sure you have baby brine shrimp to feed the babies. i could not hatch any for days after the babies became free swimming and i think i lost a lot that could have been saved.

good luck and let us know how it goes.

My angels have been laying every 13-14 days, hatching in two days, and free swimming after about another five. Hope that is a help. I understand that you don't have to feed them when they are first hatched but can wait til they are free-swimming as they are "eating" their egg-sacks til then.

it seems with a lot of Aquarium bred agels they do eat there babies as Alan said , i took a chance and left mine and they raised there babies quite happily and it was awesome to see the parents and babies together, it might be worth leaving them and see how your pair goes , if they eat them you can always take the next batch out and raise them seperately ;) Good luck

All my eggs have gone white and are growing a fuzz so i think i've lost the lot!! :(

Mum and Dad still guarding them fiercly though!! Think i'm going to have to remove the eggs aye?

Sad but from what you have said they'll have another spawning soon.

More luck next time!! Thanks for all your help and info!! :D

Hiya, i have three iof them in the same tank and the largest seems to be the one with the ovadepositor. The other two are quiet abit smaller than her. Do they need to be a certain size or age before a successful spawning will happen?

Cheers
