evilknieval69
You will need to buy a gravel vac from somewhere, Your LFS will have them They look like what the person in this pic is holding, and is demonstrating how you do it
smidey
Dont get to worried about "gravel vacing". when I was beginning I was soo worried about the water conditions being right, I would vac every week. I posted a question on here & a few members noted that they do vacume their gravel but only once a year. Since then i have not been so worried about it & my water conditions do not change due to it. sharn
my tanks with normal substrate (gravel) get a vac every single week (i do it with the water change)- it doesnt hurt to be vaccing it but dont be super worried about getting every single piece of gunk out, a little bit of poop or detrius isnt bad  my planted tanks sand never gets the vac shoved down into it, only hovering above and most people that are doing yearly vacs will have planted tanks as they use the poop, food etc as fertilisers.
