wasp
should I give vodka a limited run? Vodka etc may help appearances, but it's just skewing the balance from one bacteria type, to another, less visible type. Doesn't fix the root problem. Any proof for that? nope. If you want proof you'll have to look for it. It'll be good for you. Enough time has passed to look for the proof I guess. Puttputt, how was the vodka, and did it fix the problem? Fay
Vodka etc may help appearances, but it's just skewing the balance from one bacteria type, to another, less visible type. Doesn't fix the root problem. I would have thought thats the idea fix apperances, the root of the problem in my tank is to many fish (big fish) if I got rid of the trigger and big boy tang it would fix the problem but what fun would that be  Still running vodka here with no ill effects. Going to add a nitrate reactor to see how that goes. I thought puttputt drank the Vodka
puttputt
I drank your Vodka, Fay, far too nice for the tank Stopped using vodka 3-4 weeks ago, It worked very well, cyna stopped regrowing, and tank is almost clear of any cyno. Ran it for 5 weeks I think - 10 ml per day. Along with Vodka, I blasted my rockwork 2 -3 times a week. This combo worked well. i stopped vodka because i was losing colour in my corals. Believe that the vodka was really stripping the water of nutrients, and resulting in pale corals. It only took a couple of weeks before the colour returned and no sign of the dinos/cyno returning- all good. would certainly recommend it for a short term period, but would not have liked to carry on using it. wasp
Good to hear! There is so much anecdotal evidence in favour of vodka that I suspected it would fix the problem. As you said Puttputt the lightening of the corals is due to the nutrients being stripped. This same thing occurs with other products that strip nutrients such as zeovit. In the zeovit system, colour may be restored by feeding the corals with the nutrients they need. Anyhow, Layton did get one thing right, finding the proof WAS good for me!
