  1. In Auck I went to Stone & Water World - they do bulk stones/ garden gravel etc - they are the people that supply some LFS... I got 25 ltr bag of brightwater for $12 - So shop around & look for some builder supplies stores in your area ....
  2. I was pondering doing the same thing... Does anyone know if they can handle the jandle within a tropical community tank??? I assume a LFS can get them in?
  3. That's a sharp idea - a few logistical bumps to work out due to the different sizes of the filters etc- hadn't thought of that - cheers
  4. Howdy folks, I thought the easiest way to move house (out of home - again) was to leave my tank in the capable hands of my parents (who I have sucessfully passed the fish bug onto), and buy a new tank for my new home. So, yesterday saw myself purchase an AR-620 ( 90l 620x380x500 ish)... I have a 40l established tropical tank with all the kids waiting with anticipation to join me in the new place. I have read up fairly well on cycling - there's heaps of great info on this site - and I was thinking about placing the filter wool from my new tank into the current functional tank.... This in effect should 'seed' the filters from my new tank with glourious riches of funky bacteria. Edit - I'll chuck in the noodles too... My question is - how long do you think it the filter wool would need to be in the existing tank for the bacteria to get a decent hold?? This whole cycling concept is such a tease when you get a new tank...

    Howdy Folks

Hi people. I'm Mark, I'm from Auckland.... I'm new to this site, but have kept tropical fishies for the past 2 years as somewhat of a novice, I have a small 50 l tank which I've been using to learn the art of not killing fish! It has been an emotional ride over the past 2 yrs... I've got the following kids swimming around: neons (of course), golden angels (now outgrowing current tank), Bala/silver sharks, and a pair of boeseman rainbow's... Once I get a bigger tank I'd like to add a puffer and electric yellows ( haven't figured out if they would be compatible yet...) I think I've got the hang of things (haven't even lost a neon in the last 7 months!), and I'm considering upgrading tanks to a 150-200l soon (AR-850 or AR 980) If anyone would like to share pros/cons or experiences with the Aqua One range of tanks, that'd be wicked There's some awesome info and advice on this site. Nice to meet you, to meet you nice...
