Hi there. It's a marina tank, only 10L, which means I'm a bit obsessed about ammonia. I'm wondering how big my comets will get. :-?

Yup, it's Elodea canadensis alright. Oh well that's good, I can just keep tidying up after my fishies and the plant will just keep on growing. Although I did realise that I've just biffed most of my new growth away by mistake after reading how Elodea is propagated - opps. Oh well, the remaining plant still looks ok, and I can always go and get some more and take better care of it now that I'm aware how to.

Caper: Yes I saw your goldfish-tropical thread. Who knew grit under a tank could be so serious! (She hopes that she is remembering the right thread here). Pegasus: Yes, it is "oxygen weed", unsure about botanical name though. Long thin stems with small leaves radiating outwards, no apparent root system (but I got my from Animates, so maybe there are roots on a wild plant). I'm getting small new shoots off my plant too, but it makes so many dead leaves, I'm worried about overloading my new tank with waste stuff.

Hi there, I've just got my first ever tank of fish, although my husband has had tropicals from before I married him. Hmmm, about eight or ten years maybe. I've never been overly keen on a tropical tank, but I do like single fin coldwater fish, so I've got 2 comets, a big mystery snail and a ramshorn snail. Also the oxy weed brought with it a baby snail who keeps going MIA in the tank. So yeah, HI!
