  1. Hi Guys

been a while since i was here last, Sun Mar 28, 2010 10:50 pm to be exact lol

Some of the oldie regs may remember me :)

Anyhoo, what have we been doing for the last 5 years? Having 4 kids to add to our existing 3 and buying a house kinda absorbs the time haha

My tanks suffered so we emptied them, we kept the 6ft and gave the giant ones away.

The missus wants me to setup the 6ft again and i remembered this board forum, away a bit of guessing of which email i used and a password reset later, here we are :)

I been reading the posts about the converted garages into fishrooms with much interest, hmmmm

anyway, just wanted to say hi and catchup 5yrs of posts.

    take care

    Peter

  2. i was using a pool filter but flagged that idea, So now the water get drawn through the gravel into 4" tall baskets connected by 2" tubes and then makes its way through the baskets into the uptake and out to a trickle filter and pumped back again. Heating is via a spa pool heater which is on very little i might add due to the poly walls in the tank.

  3. Cheers Boi

Over the weekend we added 2 new tank mates, 2 plecos.

Big thanx to Whetu and Xukev for having them for sale :)

They are awesome plecos and have settled in well, though Mr Aro likes to watch them with interest but i know he is thinking about how he can make them his next meal lol

Both are about 8 inches long at a guess.

  4. Mincie - that would look cool with neons and other small tetras in it :)

PS - I am not in a "who has a bigger *Insert whatever here* " comp either. Just happened, Right price / time etc, Like others we have dreamed of a huge tank, that was but a dream untill someone posted here about them, as there was 2 i even asked a few if they wanted to go halves in costs / tanks, I am not loaded and has taken a long time just to get the small one going with costs of pumps, plumbing, heating etc etc and its all 2nd hand equipment. I just needed a big tank for my big fish that we love and 2 come up at the right time. My 6ft one was filled with neons and other tetras untill an emergency happened with Mr Aro's tank as he cracked it and we HAD to put him in there. Thought others might liked to have seen and enjoyed the pictures. Thats it. /end rant

    **Edited for spelling.**

  5. thanx every one for you comments :)

Mr Aro says thanx too lol

Yup the kids had fun cleaning it, htey thought it was a hoot

Fishboi - the dimensions of the tank are starting from the right side looking at it, its a odd shape, 560mm right - 4200mm front - 1260mm left - 5760mm back - 1230mm tall. Approx 3000 litres

yup there is 2 the other is about a 1/2 bigger in volume but that one i will be removing the glass panel and making a new tank the same way these are made, wood frame, poly walls covered in fibreglass,

the new one will be approx 6000 x 4000 x 1600 mm to give a volume of approx 38000 litres, might go smaller with the width to keep it the size of a car trailor so i can still move it when needed.

Mr Aro is in his new home and has loads more room, not so cramped like in his little 6 footer lol

    Thanx heaps :)

  6. thats what i said in my first post lol

they were on trademe so i bid and won the auction, went to napier and picked them up and here we are :)
