Has anyone kept these together? ive got reganis with my ocellatus's an its almost like the reganis are hunting the ocellatus.
tanks foot print is 4foot by 2 foot plenty of territories for both species , have even removed the julis for a week an reintroduced after shifting things around , still no good.
need another tank seems like the only option :slfg:

isn't butch dog roll low grade dog food? sure they will eat it but doesn't mean its good for them
-
i have thousands of nz insects , got a better picture of it , most likely in the genus conoderus , not juvi as they dont grow , that's its final form.
good job pinning it haha to be honest you should card mount something that small way easier
are you doing this for a uni project or something?
goodwork

hey guys looking for a pair of mountain stone weta , lives in the drier areas of the South Island high country from the Kaikoura Ranges south to Rock and Pillar Range near Dunedin in New Zealand, common and not protected , would love a pair to study. will pay $50 for the pair
Also after a pair of canterbury tree weta .can be found in Marlborough and Canterbury might be found in you gardens , again not protected and common.
thanks for the wellington tree weta that were sent to me there doing very well
-

Interesting my tiger lotus has grew 14 new leaves in just 8 weeks
that's without root tabs..
an just plain sand substrate..
-
yer i took the sag out cause i decided i just wanted plants growing on the wood and have the rest of the tank open sandy areas, makes the wood which is the center piece stand out alot more.
also i found that the sag collected alot of crap , an was slow growing in my tank
-
thanks its actually 6 pieces of wood , was the only way i could get the affect i wanted
the plants on the wood are , java fern , narrow leaf java fern , congo fern ,java moss and a small bit of anubias.
yup i use flourish now
so every Thursday i do a 35-40% water change and then add two and a half caps of flourish
so 12.5mls , approx. seems to be going well
still no co2 low tech it will stay
-
yer there mimopeus opaculus, they do better in soil to be honest
-
soo a small update , didnt relies how much the plants had grown since the last photos i took!
the group of 8 harlequins i had from the beginning bred and i left the baby's to fend for themselves and now have over a dozen baby harlequins that are about 1.5cm :dnc1: yuss free fish!
theres also 3 flying foxs in there and a pair of blue rams , but id like to add a pair of Agassizi Double Reds, a small group of corys and maybe a couple plecs of some sort , will see..
(ps looks way better in person i suck at taking photos, but you get the idea)

-
my worms are currently at 5cm but get to 7cm
beetles dont fly
-
there breeding slower but could be down to diet and temps
-
so bin breeding another species of beetle from the family tenebrionidae, this is a nz native, anyway here's the results , pen gives you a size gauge , nearly 3 times bigger than standard mealworms (tenebrio molitor).
-
to study them , no this particular species is very common and not protected
-
looking for hemideina crassidens which is not in auckland...
-
wondering if anyone one could send me a weta or two? wellington tree weta in particular.
will pay for them an postage also
much appreciated
-
haha wow! Id be surprised if they haven't spawned already
-
hey im after a couple black tunnel webs ,will pay for them and postage also
ive bin keeping the browns for over a year so know how to care for them, just cant find any blacks for myself
thanks
-
have you bin trying to breed them?
make sure you have plants with broad leafs as they lay there eggs under leaves, an not scatter them.
ive just bin using mosquito larvae but daphnia should do the trick too
-
4x2 foot tank , medium flow, nitrates an nitrites all in check, havent checked ph tho, water will be soft from all the wood .
40% water change weekly , and feed heavy with live food
-
yer i figured that as there smaller than the mosquito larvae i feed the adults haha
might just leave em some might make it if they stay on the down low
-
My Harlequins must have spawned , i didn't notice any eggs under any leaves but have seen about a dozen fry among the plants.
Anyone ever raised these in there main tank? i know if the adults get a chance to eat them they will ,but if there is enough plant cover do you think any will survive?
or best to remove them if i can and raise them up?
Hanging lights

Id like to hang my lights above my tank or atleast mount them above.
problem is i dont want to make any holes in the ceiling , so wondering if anyone knows where i can get some poles of some sort
that can run up the back of tank and above the tank so i can mount the lights from it
any ideas?
