  1. Yeah I've heard his work his top notch aye, do you have any contact details for him?
  2. Ah shipping wouldn't be an issue as it's on trademe but I think I'll get Greg to make me one as the tanks he gets built are pretty sweet
  3. No longer moving so looking at getting a large 6 foot tank . Saw online a 800L American made 'perfecto' tank and want to know if anyone has/knows much about these tanks? I've done some researching and a few people say there good and have lasted over five years with forseable issues, whereas some have said they leak/crack from poor siliconing. So should I just scrap that idea and get a custom tank made by Greg?
  4. id go for the 2213 aye, your tank water will turn over 3x an hour, the maintenance is easy as and it comes with far better media than what the aqua one's have plus there reliable. Ive got a 2213 on my 3 foot that's a tad bigger than what youve got and the water quality has always been really good and have never had even one issue with it so far.
  5. my fire eel was only ever fed blood worms before i bought him but now quite happily eats chopped up prawn and live earthworms, one idea you could try is just to use the bloodworm to lure him out to the surface and when he gets close remove the bloodworms and hold a small piece or prawn instead and see what happens, this will also get him used to feeding from your hand. could also try seachem's garlic guard/entice, ive never used either of these products but some one on the forum may have some experience with it?
  6. yeah just a full water change and its already looking a lot better so should be good getting it set up and ready for fish by the end of the week
  7. yeah never had a problem with my silica sand but as this sand isn't exactly top grade lol so will keep just doing near 100% water changes and fingers crossed should be sweet soon. Hoping to get it cycled with stability and prime this week and start chuck some neons in to test the water next week.
  8. sweet i thought that may have been the case so will just keep doing that. haha part of me was thinking that's what you get for spending $8 on a bag of sand
  9. yeah i didn't run the filter for a good 24hours as i had to replace the impeller shaft (bloody 2213's lol) but unfortunately saw no difference aye
  10. I'm setting up another tank and rather than using silica sand decided to give building sand a go for a change in colour. Got a fine sand from mega10 but after a few days the water is still pretty cloudy. I washed the sand religously before putting it in the tank and have doesd it with clarity when I saw that it's made little progress. Have it being filtered by a 2213. Is it just a matter of completely changing the water (there's obviously no fish) until it comes right or is it just cheap product cheap result lol
  11. maybe use prime and stability?
  12. Cheers for all the help so far guys, ill be ordering some hikari pellets through work asap and will be semi starving the bt until they arrive which shouldn't be to much of a wait. haha thought the username might be a bit strange on a fish forum lol. Yeah the tank's only 320L so at some stage ill have to either upgrade (which is the ideal plan) or move him on to someone with a larger tank. I'm still trying prawns but same results as from day one, was thinking of maybe giving seachem's garlic guard a go to help entice him eating the prawns, anyone have any comments on this product? id say if its anything like the quality of their prime and stability products then it should be at least worth trying...
  13. Hi guys, relatively new to fish keeping so i'm trying to learn as much as possible so hopefully a few of you could help me out with a few options. Have had my borneo tiger for a couple of months, is pretty healthy but im trying to get him on a higher protein diet. He eats bloodworms sweet but i know there nutritionally void as there 90%+ moisture. Have tried prawns since ive had him but with no luck and also small live insects etc. Just want to know if anyone has or currently owns a borneo tiger and what foods they use to feed or what could be a good option to try?
