Thankyou phoenix and FishBen for your advice. My Clown Loach is healing well. Its so good to chat with such helpfull people. Thanks again.

I purchased the tank complete with fish, I would not have chosen to put a single clown loach in a 90 ltr tank. I do a lot of research into any new additions and I'm very awear of the conditions a clown loach should have. My tank is too small to add more and for the meantime he seems very happy his best friend is a pearl gourami and they are always together. I will find him a new home the minute I feel he is no longer happy or just to big. I do love my fish.

Thanks, I love my clown he has such a neat personality. He clicks at me at night when he is hungry. Hes getting big though and my tank is only 90 ltrs. will have to get a bigger house to fit a bigger tank to keep him lol.

Does anybody know where you can catch Paratya curvirostris in the Wellington area?
I have some in my aquarium, which I caught in Hawkes bay. They are great at keeping it clean. However I have another aquarium now and wanted to catch some more, but I have moved to Wellington and do not know where they can be found. Can anyone help please?
Cheers
Bert
Hi Bert, Can you tell me where you found them in Hawkes Bay (we live in Hastings) as I would like some.
Thanks

Thanks everyone. I hope I can sort this.

Its not a very big tank so don't want to add too many more fish. Its an aqua one 620 (90 ltr). I have the lights on about 8 hours a day and feed weekly with flourish seachem. The tank is in a well lit room but no sun gets directly on the tank. My Gourami pick at it and I have a bristlenose but its growing pretty fast.

Hi can someone please tell me how to get rid of my algae without spending too much if possible. I have had the tank about 3 months, it was an established tank with plants and fish when I got it. and the algae has just gone crazy. I may be doing something wrong but don't know where to start. Thank you.

I have an aqua one 620, not many fish. 4 Prestella Tetra, 1 Pearl Gourami, 1 Gold gourami, 1 Clown Loach and 1 little Bristle Nose.
My Gold Gourami has settled down a bit so hopefully thats all it was.

I do 25% once a week. I think this is right my instruction book that came with the tank said fortnightly but it didn't seem enough was getting a bit messy after a fortnight. I have not killed anything in my main tank yet but I have only had it a few months. It was an established tank with fish when I got it.

Thanks my pH was a bit high at 8.0 I don't have a test kit for anything else, am doing a water change now.

Please help, my little gold gourami is striking himself on everything in my tank over and over again. I have looked as close as I can and cant see anything obvious, what should I do?

Thanks Geoff, that was really helpful.

I read something like that but the oppisite was said, have no idea where on the internet I read it have done lots of reshearch on the fish I have. I also read that females have a round belly and the body of a male is straight. Funny just when I thought I was learning lots. Mine has a very round belly, colud be the snails lol.

Thank you, I should start watching TV again and leave my fish alone lol. Paranoid ah.

so are the spots nothing to worry about then, they were not there a week or so ago?

So that's why I cant get her face in the shot. lol. She had her face in the plants and goes there every time she sees my camera. She is very friendly but hates the camera damn it. The spots are probably meant to be there anyway. but they are on one fin too and I know they weren't there before.
-
Thanks, feeling very blond. Will keep trying to get a photo of her face.

I have noticed my Clown Loach has a little cluster of black spots on one of her fins and today she has a few on her head near her mouth. She is still acting her normal crazy self but I would like to know what they are and how to treat them before it turns into something ugly. My pearl and gold gourami have started to strike themselves on things also so it might be some kind of parasite. any help would be good. I will try and take a picture but my clown is never still.

Thank you very much for the snails. I have one very happy clown loach. Thanks heaps.

that would be great, she is so funny a bit like a puppy with her little shell she throws it round and carries it to different places. so funny to watch. She is the best fish about 7pm she starts clicking at me to feed her.
