  1. i still get quite alot on my glass, and just wondering what i am doing wrong. I have a aqua one 620t and it is not overstocked, so not sure. maybe it could be that we a on bore water so I have high nitrates. might put my nitrate zorb back in tank filters and see if this makes a difference
  2. has being running for 6 months, so not new.
  3. This is probably just a silly question to you all, but do your tanks have brown algae on the glass that you have to clean once a week?. I use TLC once a week also, do you have to use it once a week? or can it be stretched out longer.
  4. :bounce: So exciting, I have managed to retrieve 8xguppy fry from being eaten. So cool i now have then in a breeding tank eating just small crumbs of flake food. They seen to be doing well. All my females are pregnant, so will put each into breeding tank when ready to drop. what other food can i be feeding my fry?
  5. Thanks to you all for great advice. I am going to get some more guppies, (Not fry) next week so will pick up a couple more selections of food for them. All I can say is man its an expensive hobby. . but i do love it :bounce:
  6. I picked up some guppy fry today, and the guy told me that I should be giving my fish a couple of different fish food, variety is the spice of life they say. anyway, he said I could feed them worms, i been a true blonde said well i have a worm farm with tiger worms can i feed them these? he said yes but crush them up or freeze first so they will flake easy. Can I actually feed them worms? or should I put up the embarassed smiley on
  7. OK so I was having a blonde moment. I meant cichlids.
  8. I have a 135ltr tank, I have 5 neons, 3 cat fish, 5 other tetras and 10 guppy frys. I really like the colours of some chinchillers (cant Spell), but worried they will eat my neons are they alright in a community tank?
  9. I had the water tested again today and took our tap water in aswell. our tap water is very high in nitrate, we are on bore water. So that is why my tank water is high in nitrate. Instead of getting my water from in town, i am going to try nitra zorb and see if this works. I will test water tomorrow in my tank. I have lights in my tank and will have them on while i am at work as i have live plants. No direct sunlight, but it does get some light on it, i have pulled down my sun blind to stop direct light going onto tank. Ladie at pet shop said not to do a water change at the mo as she thinks tank is coming to the end of its cycle. Will let you know how i get on with nitra zorb. thankyou for all your advise.
  10. with out the tank lights on the water looks green.
  11. The tank is second hand, i have had it now for one month, i kept the same gravel, and noodles. The tank was nice and clear for first week then turned yuck. Do I just keep doing weekly water changes of 20%, get water tested and wait for it to clear?
  12. Last week on Wednesday I had my tank water tested, it had high PH and high nitrates. I did a 50% water change, cleaned the sides of the tank as brown algae had spread. The rocks in my tank have also got brown over parts of them. It stayed clear for 2 days, but when I got home on Monday it was back to been murkey and brown on sides of tank. I will get the water tested tomorrow, but wonder if I should be doing more water changes through the week. I have live plants, and plastic plants, a pce of drift wood. please help! another question, with live plants do the roots need to be buried in the stones quite well?
