  1. I won't say I told you so...........no I will. Use the MD70 given that your plumbing is good enough that should do the job.
  2. No I don't want to sell the one I have cause I can't find one for the same price. You don't want to under spec the pump since there is no point having good skimmer if you don't have the water circulation sorted. Good Luck with it.
  3. Chimera, Iwaki uses 3 different types of impellers. Depending on your application you can get high flow, high pressure or standard. What you would want is the standard. The high flow models drop the flow rates as soon as there is a slight increase in pressure (RZ series). Also remember that your piping will also have losses in them you might be looking at RT70 or a RT100 for the flow rates you would want. The US motors operate at 60 Hz rather than 50 HZ, so you will end up having to have a transformer. When you read the graphs make sure you look at 50 Hz flow rates as these are much less than the 60 Hz flow rates.

    Tank pics

Tank is a corner tank. Either side is 1.2m, at the front it is approximately 1.7m, height 750mm. I have arranged all the stony corals right at the top since I don't have any space at the bottom due the massive lather coral I have. lighting 3 150 W DIY MH 14 000 K 4 blue tubes DIY skimmer (need to upgarde) That’s all the equipment I have.

  6. Pies, Some acros extend their polyps during the day as well. All acros in my tank are extended during the day. However during nighttime they do extend further.
  7. Jack, Your stock levels look fine, however the number of fish you can add also depend on the skimmer you have and the individual behaviour patterns of the fish. With powerful skimmer you can add more fish than you can with a less powerful skimmer (how ever there is an upper limit). Second point is the types of corals you want to keep. If you planning on keeping corals that requires optimum water quality (SPS) then add the least number of fish you can. You should also give consideration to must have fish in the reef, by this I mean fish that keep pest and algae under control. Reef aquariums need to be planned since your equipment dictate what you can and can not do. Cheers
  8. Most stony corals and some soft corals are attached to a Polystyrene (expanded foam) at the base. This allows the corals to float up side down in the bags. They are always packed in water and never wrapped up in news paper.

    Flat Worm

Sound like a good plan. I used only the recommended dose. I immediately could see the results. My water started to go yellow. If you don’t have too many of them it should not cause any problems at all.

    Flat Worm

Pies, I had a major problem with flat worms. People who have seen my tank know the extent of the problem I had. I used the same SALIFLERT flat worm exit and it worked. No mater how much light they need these things also live in, rock caves and cavities. Therefore extreme care needs to be taken. Know to the method of getting rid of them, Flat Worm exit works, it works so well that it will wipe out all the flat worms in the system, this means very high levels of toxins (released by the dead flat worms). Yes you can and must run carbon, but with large numbers of flat worms dead you might find carbon struggling to extract all the toxins from the water. Further more when flat worms die they continue to release poisons until they are completely decomposed. Certain fish have higher immunity to the toxins released by the flat worms than other fish. Tangs are very very sensitise. My advice would be to take as many flat worms you can from the system, treat the tank only keep the sump water in reserve. Mix-up new water and keep it handy and use much carbon as you can, and make sure that you pass all your water through the carbon chamber. Keep carbon running and change the carbon when required. If you have any specific questions please contact me. Good luck Desh

I don’t know whether reef is compensating for anything, but I assure you this thing is big.
