  1. They were bought as Bristlenose Plecostomus. So I would assume(hope) that they are Bristlenose.... The largest is about 4cm, but nothing showing. The other is about 3cm, and again nothing. ta
  2. Hi When do these start developing their bristles. I bought 2 from Animates a while ago, and neither have any bristles. So, at the moment I'm assuming that they are either A: juveniles B: female or of course both A and B... But, if they are male, I'd like to know then the bristles develop. ta
  3. Hi water quality is good. Did stop feeding for a couple of days and just gave peas after we lost for second one. Then they all seemed ok. Yesterday we noticed one of the larger ones wasn't really moving much, just stationary in the tank and another smaller one had trouble staying upright. Moved 3 of them into a container floating on the top of the tank and added some Furan. Then this morning 2 were dead and 1 was still alive but still not good. Food we've been giving recently is a standard container of tropical flakes bought from Animates. We'll stop feeding and just put a couple of peas into the main tank. Thanks Dave
  4. Oh well. all my other glowlights have come down with it and within 24hrs are dead! I have 1 left but I don't hold out much hope. All my other fish are OK and this goes for the Neons as well. Any info on what can cause such a rapid death? Dave
  5. Just to update. The male swordtail has now settled down with the girls, and doesn't pester as much, Everyone in the Guppy kingdom seems happy and well, and we have 3 littlies swmming around and doing well... Dave
  6. Hi I've now lost 2 Glowlight Tetras to what I'm thinking is a swim bladder infection, as they stop being able to swim upright, lie on their sides on do lovely tail spins.... The first one I removed from the tank into a container and treated with aquarium salt, but he died after about 3 days. The second one was found a bit off keel last night, and by this morning was dead. so, what can cause swim bladder infections, and what can be done to treat it. ta
  7. I've got a guppy boy with a ragged tail as well. Seems happy enough. His ragged tail was caused by a fellow male guppy who was a bully who has since died, now the tail is (very) slowly recovering.... Dave
  8. How good are the fry of avoiding hungry mouths? I think one of ours gave birth, after seeing about 3 fry hiding amongst the plants. How many do they normally give birth too at anyone time?
  9. ok, ta. I have noticed that he does like to 'show off', goes sideways, bends himself into a curve and fans his tail and top fin. Only saw him doing this once the girls were in the tank.
  10. We did seperate him for a bit, into a container floating on the top of the tank, but it was clear, and he was quite frantic to get back into the main tank, If he was a jumper, I reckon he'd done it (had tetras which did this!) Guess we'll just have to keep our eye on him. How can you tell if they'll mate? Dave
  11. Ta, yep, plenty of plants and a couple of objects, so they do get the chance of somewhere to hide. Thanks.
  12. Hi We have what I know are 2 male fantail guppies, and what I think is 1 male swordtail guppy. I have since introduced 2 females. The fantails don't seem very interested, but the swordtail is constantly chasing them around, and it looks like he is attempting to nip the underside of her tail, just behind the belly. Is this normal behaviour for a male around a female? If it is then fine, but if its bullying then he'll need a new home.... Thanks Dave
  13. Hmm... The tank is sort of fully stocked. I've got 2x plecos 3 male guppies, 1 swordtail guppy 6 glowlight tetras and about 6 million snails. The tank is 600x300x300mm Would the clown loaches fit and get on?
  14. Wonder if their would be a market for that.... The neons held their colours well.
  15. OK, so whats the best way of making a snail trap?
