  1. thanks everyone, my tank has just got a reptile light and i run a aqua one 2200. not very often is there left over food in the tank so i will just wait and see if the good bacteria builds up and slows the greening process
  2. i know that turtles make a lot of mess and i also know that the tank goes green quick. i have just moved my turtles from a 40lt tank into a 360lt tank. needles to say my turtles think they are in heavn 8) 8) only problem is i know that the tank is eventually going to turn green what i was wanting to know is, is there anything i can do to stop the greenness from happening so fast.
  3. the fish that are on the brink of dying float around the tank slowly sinking to the bottom. when they get to the bottom they get a burst of life and swim back to the top then again float to the bottom. they kinda float tail first towards the bottom. going to go and buy an ammonia testing kit and try this cycling thing. cycling - is that just basically changing the water a lot so that bacteria has a chance do grow. do i cycle with new water or use stuff i pulled out of the tank on a previous day? thank you all for you help
  4. Thanks ill read about cycling, it is new water so perhaps the ammonia is too high. Guess i will have to buy a testing kit to find out whats going on.
  5. havent cycled the tank, how do i do that? The tank is only 16 litres. What tests do i need to do to the water?
  6. i went to the pet shop yesterday and brought 3 guppies one male is dead and one female is also on the brink of dying. within 24 hrs its a new tank, water is at 26 degrees has a power saver bulb over the tank for 12hrs a day. and at the moment im only feeding the tropical fish food. what am i doing wrong?

  8. oh yea i should have said my glass was 10mm thick
  9. I have just removed the glass out of a sump tank. it had large glass panels that broke the tank into about 3 different compartments. i went to the warehouse and brought a $3 paint scraper, took the blade out and proceeded to cut as much of the silicon away that i could. once i had done that i put the blade in between the glass panels and using two screw drivers (very carefully) i pushed the blade between the panels. the glass came out easily.
