  1. Hey thanks for the welcome and cheers for letting me know there is someone local breeding clowns ,they are cool little fish and being a beginner I will more than likley start out with them
  2. I have already paid a visit to Pete at port Nicholsons glass but I really need to see some more setups (the only ones Ive seen are Animalz in petone and Hutt pets red sea max)Going to auckland tommorrow so will check out hollywood
  3. hey is this the one listed on tm,I was one of the people that asked how many litres it is.I would have loved to buy your set up but I am in wellington
  4. hey thanks for the advise on the redsea max,I really need to know what other gear I am going to need to set up a 400L tank so I can decide what way to go .I will be in auckland for the day on Wednesday 22nd so can anyone reccomend some fish shops to visit
  5. .No I dont have any gear whatsoever yet just trying to find out what i need and how much everything is going to cost,I have just found out I can get a redsea max for $1200 including the starter kit so would I be better going that way and starting small ??
  6. yeah Id like my tank to have a few mushrooms and leathers I dont want fish only but the main priority is the fish.Id need 40kg of live rock if I am to do a 400L tank Is this correct?
  7. Hi all first off just wanting to see if there are many marine keeping people in wellington?and second I am trying to sort out what gear I am going to need to start up a 400ish L marine tank,I am wanting to own a cowfish and some other small peaceful fish to go with the cowfish, Would a reef octopus NW200 or a nw200 6540 be alright for this type of setup? What size does the sump have to be? Would a weipro cc 120 with 4X 54watt T5 bulbs be good enough lighting for this type of set up? What other gear do I need? Sorry for all the silly questions but you guys on here have been awesome so farThanks alot for the help
  8. Hey guys looks like I have caught the marine bug How things can change in a matter of a week,I have given up on the cichlids and fresh water and decided to do what I have always wanted to do and thats is a marine aquarium.I have read a few storys from people about there cowfish and they sound awesome and look really freaky so I think thats what Id like to own.Does anyone own one and can you post some pics of your fish and its tank setup?Suggestions on tank size say 400L min Is this true?Is that way to big to start your first saltwater tank?
  9. Awesome thanks for the replys,I am still no closer to deciding what I am going to settle for but I have narrowed it down,I am either looking at a African cichlids(awesome fish) tank arond 300 - 500ish liters or a red sea max unit but I think I know what will happen, I will end up with both.Having the space to do this is a factor at the moment but hopefully for not to much longer
  10. Hi sorry this is probably a silly question to you but I am new to this and Im not sure what LFS is
  11. Hi just wondering where you got your background from ?Tank looks awesome
  12. Thanks candy, that makes me feel much better As for the white powder it wasnt just salt build up you could actually see the paint had been broken and caused pitting but like you say the rsm is a closed unit so hopefully it should be sweet Cheers :bounce:
  13. Thanks for replys ,Ive been and checked out a rsm set up in one of the pet stores and noticed a small bit of white powdery looking corrosion on the tank frame so I guess that this could be a problem for my music gear, bit of a bummer really I was really looking forward to getting into the hobby
  14. Hi just wanting to find a few things out before i jump in the deep end.I am wanting to set up a red sea max reef aquarium but am worried about the corrosion the salt water could cause,I was wanting to set it up in a single garage that is fully lined (I live in it) but am worried that the salt water could cause corrosion on some of my musical equipment (guitars and amp) and tv etc Has any one experienced this with their salt water set ups?Any suggestions
