  1. With tanks that size stacked up, I would be building the stand out of steel.

Looking at the weight factor each tank set up would weigh about 500kg.

Top tank would have it's base at about 1800mm high, long way up, would need to strap it to the wall for stability.

  2. Hope you mean Methylene blue and not blue meths.

What filtration is on the tank ?.

Methylene blue will have some affect on the bacteria in your filter.

Make sure water is well aerated and reduce flow to filter.

I would do a large water change (50-60%) after three days and add carbon to filter to remove the rest of the methylene blue and do small (15-20%) water changes daily for a week till bacteria in filter grow again.

  3. Wrap the wool multiple times around a book. Thread a separate bit of wool through one end and tie in a knot to hold all the threads together in a bunch. Cut through the threads at the other end and you have a mop. Tease out the individual strands of ply to make it bushier.

that sounds easy enough, I'll give it a try. Thanks Caryl

  4. I'm trying to devise an overflow system which sucks and drops the fry into a seperate chamber but no luck so far.

I keep getting guppy and swordtail fry in my sump all the time. So i leave them there to grow out, they seem quite happy there.

  5. I have never had trouble using malachite on cardinals or neons. Although malachite green is no relation to malachite the copper ore, many fish which are sensitive to copper are also sensitive to malachite green but as far as I know this is not so of tetras.

From Wikipedia, Malachite green is known to be highly toxic to certain freshwater fish such as tetras, catfish and shark catfish. It is strongly recommended that half-dosage be observed in treating freshwater tanks with catfish, tetras, scaleless, and other bottom feeder fish.

  6. there have been reports of captive bred fish being introduced into the wild population

I did read somewhere that a scientist had a large collection of angels in peru and the river broke its banks and washed them all away releasing them into the wild.

I think that is how the altum got to peru.
