  1. Ahh sweet thanks for the replies :bounce: I may give a go with my guppy fry
  2. I've been doing a lot of reading up on the aquarium hobby and a came across another forum where a couple of the member have tried growing guppies and other live bearers in tanks that are filled with greenwater. They swear that the frys grow quicker and are much healthier than growing in a bare bottom tank with daily water changes. Also, they had cut the feeding down to 2-3 times a day for the fry & only do water changes every couple of months or so. this is weird as I have never heard of anyone doing this type of tank. When I first got my guppy from my little brother who was moving it was a lone male in a Fish bowl... I used to feel quite sorry for him as the water was quite green and there was no filter in there. that was 3 months ago, and the guppy is nearing 3 years old now..(He's in a 100lt tank now with some mates) 8) Has anyone tried keeping fish in green water tanks?? Aparantly its good for the older fish too. Thinking of doing it for my 10 gallon fry tank
  3. Its not too bad at the moment population wise, I'l stick to just pulling them out when i see em I dont have many plants anyways. turns out they are ramshorns snails
  4. Hey Guys, I seem to be getting quite a few snails in my tank, I can see about 5 small ones at the moment. I think the java moss I got about 6 weeks ago had them. Anyways they little brown snail and the biggest I find are usually 3-4 mm. My question is that are they bad for the tank ? anyone know what kind they could be and will the cucumber trick work with them?
  5. My guppy dropped 79 then 20, and I only see about 5 females (all 1 month old). My temp is roundd 24-25c and ph is round 7.6. I heard that high ph gives you more males. Not scientific data though
  6. Ahh to bad. I'l just leave it . Thanks for your help
  7. Oh really  even after boiling it?
  8. Hey Guys, Would appreciate you opinion on this. I have Dead Bonsai plant (partners fault )about 25-30cm in height. its been dead for a few months now.. And I though it would look pretty cool in my Tropical aquarium, it still has leaves on it that I would be removing. I was wondering if it was ok to put in the Aquarium, I will boil it and will probable tie some java moss on to it to give it a 2nd life as a tree 8) Would it be ok or will it leech something onto the water that is bad for the fish??
  9. Yah I have noticed that they seem to be more active, but the guppy fry I have showed a lot of interest towards the airstone when i first got it. dont think it stresses them out though. I just wondered if it kept them up at night..
  10. Yeah, I just bought some new timers today, so i'l probably sync them with the lights.. I am obsessed with these fish!! lol My family are starting to think im Insane I think
  11. Oh ok cool. They seem ok. Thanks for the advice!
  12. Oh Thanks just wondering. The fish seem to be ok breathing wise. Ive been turning mine off over night and back on again in the morning just to make sure they get enough sleep lol
  13. Hey guys, heres a dumb question  ... Are air pumps meant to be kept on 24/7 or Should they be off at night when the fish sleep??
