  2. Hey thanks for that yes mine seem to be very sit back and wait for food but I thought it was because they were new to the tank, do you know of a site I could check out to see what they look like when they are older ??

  4. Hi there guys, have bought some cichilds for my tank (community tank) they seem happy enough, they are pale in colour alittle yellow on them one black spot and red on the ends of their fins cool little guys what do they eat ?? what group are they?? the shop was not much help ....

Ok will keep that in mind with the flourish as I do have some catfish and yes my tank is in the front lounge where it gets a fair bit of light during the day as its right by a big window, (nowhere else to put it) My next tank I'm going to build into wall cavity so I can view from 2 sides just have too convince the wife thats all ....lol
  6. Hi, I will give that a go. My filter pumps out a fair amount of water but I might put the spray boom back up horizontal at the top of the tank as I have it vertical in a corner and it doesnt break the surface, I do have air going through a bubble stick thing at the other end, the lights are on from 7am to about 10pm..... lol I like watching them I'm thinking that might be to much light though??

  12. Sort of, its quiet thick and spiderweb like it fans out upto 30mm long from where it is attached to plants etc...

  14. hey thanks for the info guys, this is a good site for finding out whats what as I'm new to fish really ... Have had a tank for a few years now but dont really know what i'm doing, I think I have been lucky reading a few postings on here ... 8)
  15. Yeah must have been the barb type thing that got me lol They are now on holiday round at a mates place, along with a Red Tailed Shark... I think I need another tank! I get in enough trouble for the one I already have ....... her in doors is not keen on fish!

  17. Impressive jumpers too I was in bed this morning and heard a thump and went to see what was going on and there on the floor is one of my Loaches on the floor!! shot out of a gap between the lid and tank!! to top it off he bit me on the finger no less!! lol
  18. Help!! do clown loaches eat the eyes out of neon tetras?? i have a big tank and the loaches are about 10cm long, I think i might sell them, what would they be worth??

I have quiet a collection of driftwood now thaks to the heavy rain etc... so the tank is looking good, I sandblasted some to see just how weather torn I could get it, it bought out the grain in it and sure took off all the rot and grim lol followed it up with a steam clean and hey presstoo!! just heat and eat 8)
  20. they are starting to look better have been feeding them with flourish excell and they are coming away and the black fuzzy stuff is slowly going away too have some driftwood in there also to buffer the ph which was a little hard to control before hand, so all in all its coming along well !! and thanks for the advice
  21. Hi, I vac my tank and hold my finger over the end of the hose so as to limit the water flow should it look like im going to suck everything off the bottom of the tank ....

Here is an idea, I used "Sure shielding sand" its the stuff they use in the dairy industry to coat the floors mixed with an epoxy resin, the sand is golden in colour and the grains are the size of raw sugar not to big and not to small look up in the yellow pages maybe floor coatings ?? I bought some off a local company here i wouldnt imagine it to be difficult to get hold of ( "Sure Shielding" sand)
  23. Hey there, the worst ones are the crypts, and i do have some other plants they have 75mm long leafs that grow straight out from the base and are about 20mm wide all the way up, they look rather sick also .....
  24. ok substrate is about 50mm thick all over the tank ....
