  1. Hi CatBrat,

I have a female Krib that you can have for free. I have two - I would like to keep the smaller one.

Will be away for work this week.

If interested send me a PM.

  2. Hi Thunderstorm,

I have some java moss if you would like it.. tie it to some of your driftwood to get a different affect.

Do you have any krib babies at the moment? Appear to have to females... would like to grow up four babies....

  3. Fay,

I think it depends on how big your tank is. Sometimes water movement can help ensure that som eplants don't get algea, but it is also heavily dependant on the nutirents in the tank.

Why don't you try it an see how you go...

I have my lights on for 9 hours a day. Plants still grow well....

    Hope this helps you.

  4. Got a pair also Kyle, it cost me a bit more than 10 though!

The male is quite good looking, but the female is quite dark in comparison, without the striking colour!

They are shivering at each other like cichlids do before they get ready to spawn! Hoping for the best!

  5. Try starting with big plants at the back and small plants at the front.

Try not to use more than 2 to 3 different types of plants, to ensure consistency.

Suggest mini chain sword (mini sage) at the front and hygro at the back to start with. Make sure there are fertilisers in the tank, root and liquid. And ensure there i enough light.

Once the tank is growing well, try other plants that you may fancy. Be warned, not all will survive! Look for the other listings in the plant section on easy to grow plants.

I would not put anymore driftwood in considering the size of the tank.

    Hope this helps. 8) 8)

  6. I have a three clown loaches which I bought to take care of some of the snails in my tank. They are doing a great job and hardly see any snails now days.

If I was going to treat the tank for whitespot, do I stick with the standard dosages for Malkon or do I reduce the dosage down do to the clown loaches sensitivity? Any thoughts?

  7. I have 6 swordtails in my community tank, 5 females and 1 male. One of the females is the boss of the tank and chases the male away all the time. He knows not to mess with her!

Up until recently I though nothing of this behaviour, but last week I saw that the female was growing a swordtail!! Is this fish changing sex?? :o:o:o Is this possible??

Should two male swordtails be kept in the same tank, will they fight?

Anybody out there with some comments........

  8. Hi guys,

Anybody got any good ideas on a cheap DIY substrate based fertilser?

I have used latrite in the past, but don't want to spend that much money again!!!

I was thinking of using organic peat and potting mix from the local garden store.

    Any comments welcome :D:D:D

  9. Sound really unusal.

    :(:(

Have you cleaned the filer recently?

    Are you vacuming your gravel?

Try some tonic salt - this did the try a couple of years ago.

    Good luck

P.S Plant the tank heavily -> Healthy plants normally mean healthy fish!!
