70mm Acrylic.

I was just sorting out what pictures I have left after my hard drive crashed and burned and found a picture showing the bubble tank width. And that's not me in there I couldn't fit :oops:

No the bubble tanks are too narrow to house any thing in, The were designed for decorative displays only.

Main tank looks good finished and stocked. Those bubble tanks should be a lot more active than they are with more intense lighting than that, I had a feeling the young chap doing the air control was out of his depth :-? Tank Man.

Thats why I said "if it's acrylic" :lol: At least if it was acrylic you could polish it out your self

If it's acrylic you should be able to polish it out by using 1200 / 1500 / 2000 grit wet and dry ( use it wet ) then buff it up with some brasso and a soft cloth. Start with the 1200 and work over the scratched area then when you move to the 1500 go slightly wider than you did with the 1200 to remove the grit marks left from the 1200 and same process for the 2000 grit. If you need to go finer than 2000 grit then I can supply you with some micron paper. 60,30,15 and 9 micron, Note: micron paper works the opposite way to grit rateings eg: 9 is the finest. Unfortunately you have to use the 3m applicator gun with it special mixer nozzles witch will set you back around $100 before you even get started then the tubes of glue are around 50 to 60 $ and have a short self life once opened. I can recall one incident in a large company a few years back where a 9" grinder wheel (thin cut off type) shatter and a piece hit the operator in the heart killing him, also had a mate who's a sheet metal engineer had a 5" wheel do the same and embedded it's self in his forearm doing some major damage to his tendons. I've had a few wheels let go but luckily have never been hit by any, Most common cause of grinder wheel accidents is people using cut off wheels and loading them up. You must keep the material from closing up on the wheel while cutting other wise you risk the wheel parting company. Tank Man.

Getting closer now.... Left Napier Friday 11 am, arrived at welly 4pm spent until 11.30 pm getting them in place. Back at it 8am Saturday to set up the panels ready for siliconing finished at 6pm then back Sunday 8am for the final stint which took until 7pm then 4 hours to drive back home :-?

This is last week ends effort to get the tank frame in place, it's made up of three sections that are bolted together then the joins are fiberglass over again. We had to lay the sections on there ends to make it low enough to get under the glass door at the air port than use chain blocks anchored to the floor to stand it back up. Getting it in between the pillars was a mission as it's a fairly tight fit :roll: The two smaller frame each side are bubble display tanks which I'm trying to make in between all the trips to Wellington Next stage is to take the panels down and silicone them in. 2mm Poly carb $105 Per square meter including GST so 600x400 = .24 of a meter so that's $25.20 incl. 2mm acrylic as a comparison would be $54.39 PSM Including GST. When I get time I'll put together a list for acrylic prices for the fnzas members and list it in the commercial section. Tank Man.

If you were talking some thing around 600 x 400 with a 40 mm lip folded up all the way around it would put like $35 on top of the acrylic price. I don't like gluing bits on for strong backs it never last that well either. So 500 x 700 x 4.5 acrylic for instance would be $40 for material so $75 all up with folds including Gst Tank Man.

You are correct, WIAP are going to have an "small" aquarium which will be viewable from the waiting lounge (non customs side so you can wander and and see it) the once you've gone pass customs you will be looking into the other side of it. It is going to be salt but with a cook straight theme as far as I under stand. Tank Man.

What about if you fold the edge's of the acrylic to stiffen it Warren ? Poly carb is 2x the price of acrylic

I wouldn't know what the glass equivalent is worth but glass is probably cheaper for joe average. Smallest tank, well we make the 6" bowls you get at the pet shops if that counts ??? For commercial tanks I've made down to 600Lx450wx450 for aquariums to use as quarantine Tanks. Tank Man.
