managed to scrounge another heater, glad i dont have anything in the tank right now. Does anyone have any views on what is a good fish to start of with ? I was thinking a pair of clowns, anyone got a view on this ? still not skimming................................... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

hey guys, my heater went *pop* and konked out on me, does the temperature effect the skimming at all, as it still isnt working !! ahhhhhh :evil:

Cheers for the mighty quick replies. Im using IO salt mix as well if that helps. suphew- ive updated the best i can ! haha. Ill wait a week or two before i start to get worried, ive heard of the slime thing before and my tank looks pretty sterile, perhaps it needs a bio-load or something before it foams up. Ghost face- with the 2600 lph pump did you have any issues at all? ill keep an eye out for a better pump, as i need some anyway to get a good flow through the tank. Also, does the length of tubing taking water from tank to the skimmer affect it at all ? i know that the height affects it but im not to sure on the sideways. :lol: sweet cheers for the clues.

Hey guys, cheers for reading my thread ! Im new to the saltwater thing, i bought a skimmer a few days ago and have set it up and is now running. is there a waiting period before it starts to froth up and produce skimmate? the water is a new mix so im wondering if the salt mix needs to throughly do its thing first. Its a queen skimmer on a 1100 l/h pump. The man at the pet store runs them on his tanks and reccomended it for simplicity and reliabiltiy. at the moe the bubbles hit the surface in the skimmer and just pop pretty quick. cheers all
