Howdy and welcome along.

Thanks for the replies.
My female turned up yesterday, after many days in hiding.
She seems none the worse for wear.
Perhaps her curiosity of the new plec drew her out.
She's been trying to make friends lol.
Am happy that I still have her.

Well a few months ago I had 2 adult and 6 juvenille BN catfish, happily swimming around my 450L tank. Fed them courgette, algae tabs, and always made sure enough of all other food hit the bottom.
Tank has piece of driftwood, plenty of plants and a few scattered caves.
Temp is ususally around 26-27 D Celcius.
I do regular water changes. There is nothing unusual about the tank at all.
I did have a couple danio's with what some suggested was dropsy, and promptly got rid of them. None of the other 50 plus fish have shown any signs of distress.
About a month ago I noticed the juvenilles were down in numbers.
Then two weeks ago I found my male dead in one corner of the tank.
Now I can't find my adult female. Haven't seen her for a few days now.
I suspect they have been eaten.
What I want to know is:
What would have caused my bristle noses to die off??
I thought they were a pretty hardy fish.
(edited a couple spelling mistakes)

thanks for clearing that up.
And no, my query had nothing to do with port nicholson glass. I didn't know it was removed.

Keri Anne, It can't be it, because I've posted business details on here before and got it deleted and I was told off.
-
I had some made at Argus heating 455 St Asaph Street Christchurch 8001. .
I thought we weren't allowed to put addresses and phone numbers on here??? And don't tell me that because it's a business that it's allowed.
(Thanks for pointing that out Kookie, Mod Alan.)

I have found that filter wool folded a few times, is an excellent sponge for a filter. It sure does catch everything.

Thanks for the replies all.
Did a water change, using only cold water.
Changed about 80L this time, from 400 odd Litres.
All fish seem fine, and swam through the water as I poured it in.
In fact they really loved the cold water.
Have been watching them, and so far no signs of stress.
-
Do you use cold water or warmed water to refill your tank when doing water changes?
When using cold into a tropical tank, do the fish get stressed?
Does the water have to be warmed to tank temp first?
Your thoughts and experiences appreciated.

Tis looking STUNNING Jude.

How many tanks will that be??? Nice case of MTS huh!how many tanks are u planning kookie?
LOL. A good friend of mine saw my big tank and went weak at the knee's.
So I set her up with a 30L tank, accesories and some of my guppy and platy youngins.
Well that's all it took and now she wants one built.
MTS strikes again

Thanks for the replies all.
Much appreciated.

Is that the name of the place in Welly that makes custom tanks?
Also does anyone have the phone number please?
Any other recommendations for tank builders?
Thanks in advance.

Am having a green water problem with big tank at the mo, so pics aren't coming out too flash. Am battling to get water clear again. Once I've won that battle I will take some new pics.

Still working on it

Thanks for the replies all. I have managed to catch one, and put it down.
The other knows what's up. disappears into the jungle.
The third is MIA.
Shifted it for you Kookie.Alan 104
Thanks Alan

Thanks modern.
Unfortunately, I don't have a spare tank right now.
Me thinks I will just catch them and put them down.
Don't want to risk the other fish.
-
Ack, just noticed this is in the wrong section.
Could someone move it for me please.

My 3 zeb danios are swollen. To the point their scales are starting to stick out. They also seem to have what looks like sores or abrasions on them.
They are still swimming around ok, and seem to be eating.
All other fish in the tank are ok. It's just the 3 zeb danios.
What could be causing this, and what do I do about it.
I was almost going to catch them and euthenise them. Thought I'd see what others have to say first.
Thanks in advance

yep, the love courgette. Good to supplement their diet with spirulina or algae discs too.
Surly one day(as usual), dead the next?

Would the females have harassed him?
