  1. Hi B&K - will keep an eye out for the Methylene Blue - many thanks for taking the time to respond Thanks to you too, Alan...
  2. Hi People Just before Christmas, last year, I noticed one of my goldfish looked like he was sprinkled with salt and had a white, fuzzy spot on his tail. Needless to say, he was moved to a quarantine tank immediately. Since then, I have treated it with the following: 1. A Wardley product called Promethyasul, for approximately 3 weeks 2. Rock salt at a concentration of 1 teaspoon to 4.5 litres water for 3 weeks 3. and finally, a product called Tri-Sulfa for the past week All of the white "salt" spots on the body of the fish are long gone but the one fuzzy spot on his tail is still there (although it has decreased dramatically in size), so my question is - is this white fuzzy spot a symptom of white spot disease, is it something else or is it normal? I'm concerned that the treatments have been going on for so long and would like to put him back in my tank ASAP but obviously I don't want to do so until I know that all the white spot is gone. If anyone can offer any advice, I would be grateful. Thanks for your time
  3. Thanks Helifax... definitely worth trying...
  4. Hi Tony Thanks for the advice. I have fed the power cord for the light out the cable duct in the rear already and will try putting the black coarse foam on top - have noticed a bit of a waterfall noise but it's not too bad... better than when the waterfall was down my living room wall... hahaha
  5. hehehe... thanks for the advice, Tony.Bates... Sounds like the voice of experience
  6. ok - thanks Caryl... appreciate you taking the time to respond bradwats
  7. Hi Carol... The bottom "threads" on the tail are getting lighter in colour but they are not getting any shorter. The fish has been isolated for more than 2 weeks now but there has been no change. The tank the fish is in has blue medication in it, so I'm not sure how accurately I could read a pH test, with the coloured water. None of the other fish in its previous home are displaying any signs of any damage, etc to fins or tails.
  8. Kewl - thanks Caryl... btw - what is 'MTS'?
  9. Hi People I have a Paradise Fish that is approximately 75mm (3") long (including tail). Over the past few weeks, a few strands at the bottom of the fish's tail have started separating off from the tail and they're becoming lighter in colour. A friend of mine who has more experience in the fish world than I do has suggested that it is fin rot and that I needed to isolate the fish into a smaller tank, then dose the water with Melafix and Promethyasul (contains Mafenide Hydrochloride (24.2 mg/mL), Aminacrine Hydrochloride (3.3 mg/mL) and Malachite green (0.4 mg/mL)), which I did. Two weeks later on, there has been no change in the condition of the tail and I'm beginning to wonder whether fin rot is the problem - the separated pieces of tail aren't getting any shorter - they're just splitting off from the main section of the bottom of the tail. Tried to attach a couple of images but doesn't seem to be working - sorry... Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks bradwats
  10. Many thanks, Billaney... greatly appreciate all your assistance. btw - great looking tank ya got there...
  11. Hi Billaney... guess who??? ahhaha Just wondering whether you have your tank filled to the 80% mark, as advised in the "instructions" (not sure the brief amount of information they provide warrants the term). One of the guys at the shop I bought the tank from mentioned that I could completely fill it but I'm reluctant to do so unless I know that someone else has done so with no problems. Please advise at your earliest convenience. bradwats
  12. Hi Billaney Looks like I have success - the sleeve the slides over the angle tube DOES click into the power head as opposed to the actual angle tube which just sits in the hole... also noticed that the black piece with the two clips that holds the powerhead was only fully clipped in on one side... Fixed both of these problems and the spraybar now SPRAYS, instead of offering a pathetic dribble and my wall is no longer getting wet. Many thanks for your assistance, Billaney... Much appreciated
  13. Thanks for the very quick response, Billaney... Have just checked that the spray bar is corrected around the right way, and it is as you described it. What I did notice, however, is the angle tube that leads from the powerhead to the spraybar does not "click" into the power head - it just sits in the hole at the top of the powerhead. Is this how yours is? Advice appreciated
  14. Hi people - new guy here - just bought an Aquaone AR-980 tank yesterday - set it up late this afternoon. When I switch on the powerhead/filtration, very little water comes through the spray bar, however, I find that a lovely cascade of water flows down the wall behind the tank (it pumps out of the hole that the power cords go through). Has anybody ever encountered this before? Will be grateful for any information that anyone can provide... All pieces seem to be attached correctly. Thanks people - looking forward to being able to enjoy the tank, without soggy carpet... hehehe Seeya
