Well. I did my bit for conservation. The Koi is now Cat Food.

Top of the Waikato. Does NZKA stand for something to do with Koi? I had a good look at the Goldfish last night. They are way dif to the Koi. They swim in short bursts are really fat in the gut then 'sweap' up to the tail quite quickly. They just look like bigger versions of what they were when I put them in there. And they hang together, the Koi is all on its own. Does the Koi damage the bank by boaring into it? I havent seen him do it but I heard a rumour. Once I get rid of the eels back into the stream I will put some more Goldfish in there. The shags occasionally stop by, but I have a method of getting rid of them. My next trick is a tank in the house with some native cray's. There is a few in the creek. But thats another post.

Is there a way to tell the diference between these 2. A while ago I put some goldfish in my dads pond... about 3, they were only about 5cm long. His neighbour has watergardens that sometimes flood and there are Koi in there. Today I saw 2 very large goldfich about 200mm long and fat as (you should see all the food in this pond). As well as that I saw a Koi carp. It looks different to the suspected goldfish. It there any way to tell? Oh yeah, I have been traping the eels out of his pond and putting them in the stream that also runs thru his property where hopefully they will clean up. They tend to come into the pond and never leave and eat everything even ducklings, I saw it myself!! I guess I should add the pond is about 30m x 15m and about 5 foot deap in the middle.
