I have inherited a tank and just wanted to check out the specs to make sure it will (should) be ok. I t is 1200 long 500 wide and 900 high 15mm glass with a 50 x 10mm brace running full length front and back and a 195 x 10 running front to back at each end. Should this be ok? What thickness polystrene should i sit this tank on? Thanks in advance

Nope in New Zealand we have the Electricity Act, The new Zealand electrical regulstions and then we have some common standards like AS/NZS3000 and several others

Sorry to disagree St Gabrielle unless you can find a plug in RCBO to replace a fuse then legally you are NOT allowed to undertake anywork on a switchboard. Yes a home owner may do work on their own house but they are not allowed to connect anything to the supply.

we have 4 potbellies in a 100litre tank, they live on frozen brine or mysis and very rarely a feed of live brine. Have noy had problems with them feeding but they would not cope with tank mates as slow eaters

What's everybodies view on using irrigation hose (the black Neta type stuff) to pipe out saltwater aquarium? Is it safe? :-?

do you just use a UV light as the tank light? we have ordinary fluro tube over tank and wondered if that was part of problem

I am also having a major problem with brown algae in my 100 litre seahorse tank. Tank has been up and running for about 6 months and water parameters have always been good. What is the best way og handling this problem and what causes it? thanks in advance for any advice

As an Electrical Inspector i would not recommend ever plugginbg a multi box into a multi box. The quality of multi boxes leaves a lot to be desired. A better option would be to change the wall outlet to a double and plug two multi boxes into the wall or even better install a 4 way outlet and do away with one of the multiboxes all together

Is there much difference between the new 5 series Fluval filters and the 4 series, they look very similar?

Thanks Warren, I am relatively new to the tank scene can you please explain. Am using a fluval external cannister filter. What sort of pump would you recommend and which line would you put it in? from or to the tank and at which end of line. Keen to learn and goive these little guys the best home I can. Thanks in advance for any help

I have a 100 litre Seahorse tank with a chiller running after a fluval canister filter. Would I be able to run hoses from the tank under the floor to the exterior of the house and have the unit outside. Maybe the filter as well. Distance from tank to proposed site approx 10metres. Chiller gives off a fair about of heat when running and thinking of shifting it outside to remove heat from tank room. Any pros and cons? Hope that all makes sense.....W.
