  1. Since posting my last reply on this thread i have a few updates.

My hexagonal is still going strong with 4 angels, schools of serpaes and silvertips, corys, b/n, 2 cockatoo cichlids.

I have upgraded my guppy tank which now is 105l which also has 6 juvenile b/n.

    I have a 87l malawi tank with a 5 different species of malawis plus 3 b/n.

Then next door to the Malawis i have my community tank with platys, swords, mollies, loaches, gouramis, flying foxes danios

Then i have a small convict breeding tank with both parents and fry in the tank.

Also a 40l tank with a few guppy and convict fry with corys, kuhlis and b/n

    Also the goldfish fry tank.

And another houses 2 female bettas and one male.

    Also im in the planning of housing 8 tanks as a fishroom in my garage that will hold;

    1 2ft x 1ft x 2ft 105l tank

    2 2ft x 2ft x 2ft 215l tanks

    5 2ft x 1ft x 1ft 54l tanks.

Also in the thoughts mind is upgrading my malawi tank to a 4.5ft 160l

But thats enough for the moment

Any of your thoughts wouldnt go astray either

  2. If i have three tanks in a row, all exactly the same size and right next too each other to keep them all heated the same temp could i just have heaters in the two outside tanks and leave the middle one with no heater. would the middle tank be warmer enough. the tank sizes will be no more than 2 footers.

  3. Hi and welcome to the site.

Heating: yeh two heaters between 200-300W would b best.

Plants: Yeh live plants look good and are healthier for fish.

Rocks, Gravel etc: You could put most substrates in the bottom of the tank like sand, gravel, and rocks

A couple of fish that you could have as showy fish are angels or gouramis.

  4. Is it ok if you leave lighting on for than 12 hours a day, does it affect the fish and plants, i leave them on 12 hours+ a day and sometimes they may only be off for a few hours in a day. i do this to encourage algae growth on my tanks for the b/n's and alike to munch on that but is it affecting anything leaving the lights on so long.

  5. yes keep you filter going but if you've got any carbon in your filter you should take that out, also slowly increase you temp to around 27-28 degrees. i think this info's right. anyone else agree or disagree with me.

  6. since i removed my male fighter out of the guppy tank there hasnt been any new guppy with nipped fins.

but anyway i would of moved it soon enough as iv finally been able to get some female fighters from the lfs.

i think with most fish it comes down to its personality as iv kept bettas and guppies together before and theyve been fine, must just come down to th individuals.

  7. i looked into the tank today and i see a lot of fry swimming round but havent seen anything for a few days as the eggs disappeared and there was no fry swimming round. now the fun bit, can i feed the fry liquifry or does it have to be bbs?
