  • Giant Bully

    • Very dark in colour with loose rows of pale or gold flecks the body of the Giant bully is very stocky and stiff.  The head has a tapered profile with a protruding lower jaw and the face has gold flecks.  The male dorsal is orange or green.  This fish has six dorsal filaments (maybe five or seven) and often reaches over 15cm in length with the largest known reaching 24cm.

    • Habitat: Variable habitat, but may also be found in sandy streams on/near beaches in estuarine and lowland areas of New Zealand.
