  Found in freshwater lakes and rivers in northern Africa and grows up to 43cm maximum size but rarely attains that in captivity, so a 450 litre tank will house one alone as they generally get too aggressive with tank mates as they mature..

  Temperaturerange 24-26°C, pH: 6.5-7.5, Hardness: 5-15°, its usual diet all kinds of shellfish , worms and other live or frozen foods. It should be fed snails and unshelled shellfish to help keep teeth from growing too big.
