I tried that though. That's when they re-classified me and charged me more also back dating it a couple of years.

This from their website. "A self-employed person that works on average less than 30 hours per week is considered to be 'part time'. A 'part time' self-employed person pays a levy on their actual earnings, the deemed minimum earnings level does not apply."

Sole traders are the simplest entity - free to set up as it's effectively a commercial form of a natural person. Most banks even offer a 12 month fee waiver on account fees.

Tax and thus ACC is payable on the net earnings (if positive) of the entity.
