...my bandeds decided that inanga are yummy and then devistated the population...

My Giants decided that the inanga and bandeds tasted good :( only one banded left out of the ~1/2 dozen whitebait I had to replace the ones that died of old age last winter.

I wonder if we need to have a "Show us your native tank" sticky thread?

thanks guys at the moment i only have two bandeds that are only 12cm each that big rock on the right by the flow master is actually a hollow cave that my bandeds love, my inanga are all tiny only like 4-5 cm and make a cool little school of fish i have about 8 redfins in the tank but are all quiet small as well the tank is 130cm long and i have had it running for about two years now regular waterchanges and maintenance keeps it looking good,

redfins, as the colourationseems to vary quite a bit between different populations.

The intensity of coloration is highly variable. It relates to the colour and size of the substrate and the amount of light penetrating the stream. Even within one tank (5000L tank at te manawa, Palmerston North) the redfins that made their home at the sandy end of the tank were distinctively speckly compared to those that lived in the other two thirds of the tank amongst rocks and large gravel!
