First of all you need a pair.

You may think I'm being a bit flippant saying that, but it appears that the males are few and far between.

Then it is just a matter of conditioning them up.

Have a floating half polystyrene cup on the surface (split lengthwise) and when you see the male staring to do his bubble nest, you'll know that you aren't far away.

WARNING

Keep hands away from the vicinity of the cup, as the male defends this area very hard.

The first time I got caught with an attack, and the only time mind you, it was quite a shock.

yep i got a male and female ive got them in a 4ft community tank at the moment

Should i put them in a tank on their own

Do i put stones on the bottom or leave it bare

what sort of filter would be best also the temp.

And what size tank

The male is about 12cm and the female is about 14cm

I gt the female yesterday from a mate and they became very friendly within 10 minutes.

Sorry for all the questions

Thank you

From the top

Lucky you.

Yes, saves hassle for the male who defends.

Hiding places for the female, and instead of a cup you could use floating indian fern.

Bare bottom, easier for the babies to be found and to find food later and to clean.

No smaller than a 2footer.

About 75oF, that's what I did mine at anyway.

No sweat on the queries we are here to help if possible.
