was no other snail any where near, other then an empty shell about 10cm away.

I went for my usual snail hunt for Yindi this morning, and came across this one sitting out in plain sight. The first thing I noticed was that it was really stretched out, I actually thought it was 2 snails mating it was so far out of its shell. Then I noticed the white lump, and it had what looked like fishing nylon come out of it, tapering towards the end. I soon grabbed the camera and noticed the tube on the same side, sticking out quite far. I assure you its not fishing line, breaks very easily.

I think there should be a max size on fish too, with fish such as snapper the huge females produce far more young then the pan sized. It would be one way to help sustain the populations. I think the eels should be the same, minimum and maximum size limits, in fact many species. Sports fishermen won't like it much though, its all about size, but tag and release is working well for other species.

Check out this male, he has an orange mark between his gills and his dorsal fin. Doesn't keep still though the little snot. Anyway, anyone have any similar markings on guppies? I'm quite keen to try and breed it out.

Mitre 10 mega and bunnings will cut wood for you, the cutting fee is very reasonable. Then you just need a drill bit and some screws. I built the stand for my 4 foot, out of treated pine so it could have been a fair bit cheaper, for around $40 - $50. Have a look into it, I delayed setting up that tank because I couldn't afford to get a stand made, nor could I find something suitable at the hospice (another option) once I bit the bullet and got under way it was a piece of cake.

Yeah out of all they are my favourites would love to get a black in there, Geo's would probably get beaten up though and they are more important then getting my fix of Arowana. I will work on getting it covered in plants, I am thinking of getting another 4 foot tank, just using it to grow out my eels and geo and using the current 4 foot as a sump, I've been offered a UV filter at a very good price too, and found a reasonable MH.

Hahaha I don't think I will get another cigar shark until I have a lot more tank space then I can school them, awesome fish though, I would do it if I had 2000 Ltrs + I am thinking about an Aro now though, as I have always wanted one. Wish it could be a Jar but too nasty for that tank I think.

Alright a little update, With Havana the cigar shark gone I can now have plants again. Thinking of replacing the tubes with just 1 metal halide on the right hand side of the tank. Will buy a solenoid and regulator off ebay and start pumping some co2 into the tank too, Ill give it a go but I think the shear volume of water will be too much for co2 to be affective.

What kind of Co2 system mate? If its grunty enough for a 6 foot then I could probably find one to do the 8 foot. Looking great too, definitely going to look into the MH too.
