  3. The FNZAS would like to pass on their condolences to the family and friends of Craig Hewson who devoted a lot of his time over many years to the Federation both in a local club and executive capacity and the fish keeping hobby in this country, he will be remembered by many of us for starting them on the road to fish keeping.
  4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pGD3Wukb9A Thought i had lost this little fella a few times now as he is in a large system, have had him 3 months and hasn't grown much. Octopus huttoni, Octopus (Smaller)OCTOPUS HUTTONI INVERTEBRATEThe smaller octopus - octopus huttoni are usually seen about the size of your fist, and tend to be more frequently sighted on night dives as they emerge to feed. They tend to be more fearful compared to other octopus, perhaps realising their size makes them an easy meal for predators. These small octopus make homes out of almost anything, old cans, and bottles that have been discarded, usually found in scallop beds or shells on the ocean floor will often hold octopus.Up to 57cm in total length.Seem to be more aggressive than larger species and can bite.

  8. This is a pretty good food to add to the diet http://www.repashy.co.nz/collections/reptile-insect-and-invertebrate-products/products/grassland-grazer
  9. Temperature inside enclosure should be around 25c and basking spot about 30c, I have used sand and soil dug from the garden mixxed together at about 50mm thick then gave it a light misting with a spray bottle daily. Those glazed terracota plant saucers make a good water dish for them that is hard to tip over, what is the enclosure like?

if they are small enough they grow in that environment and don't try to escape, never had a lid on an octopus tank yet

    Octopus

Had this guy for 3 months now he was brought to me from some fisherman who found him in an empty barnacle shell they pulled up from 30 metres just off the coast here. He hasn't grown much so i hope he is an Octopus huttoni as they only grow to approximately 24cm, in the plastic mesh cage ar oysters and the squares in it are 25mm, he has been a bugger to get a pic of as he has been travelling from the tank through the bell siphon and into the sump which is a rockpool. Lost him for three weeks and thought he had been eaten but found him in the rockpool so put him back in the tank.

  22. you need to get the surface of the water moving to allow an exchange of gases produced by the plants a water change will help too
  23. Going by the look of the surface of your tank(bubbles and film) you have no flow in there, so get some water movement going and you can siphon that fungus out also
