Apistogramma cacatuoides “Orange Flash”
A popular and colourful Apisto, with males developing strong orange finnage as they mature. Generally a good option for peaceful planted or natural-style community tanks.

Apistogramma macmasteri
A bold and attractive dwarf cichlid, with males developing great colour and personality. Best kept with plenty of cover, caves, driftwood, plants and calm tankmates.

Apistogramma hongsloi
A beautiful South American dwarf cichlid, with mature males often showing red, orange and yellow tones. They do well in softer water setups with hiding places and peaceful companions.

The fry are around 1 inch at this stage. Some are starting to show early signs of sexing, but I cannot guarantee males or females yet.

Pictures of the adult males/dads are the actual fathers for reference only, to show potential adult colour.

These are best suited to established tanks with stable water, plenty of cover and sensible tankmates. Happy to answer questions about care or compatibility.

I’ve got about 8 month-old ember tetras needing a new home. These are babies of three original tetras bought from a pet shop.

The swordtails are 2.5 - 3cms, not sexed. The leopard fish are 1.5 - 2cms, males and females available. I can ship the leopard fish but not the swordtails as I have no heat packs. both are available for pickup in Dunedin. Both are $5 per fish.

I set this up to attempt to make a stable system with low stock - was successful and I can never detect any nitrates, so I have just trimmed the plants and left it be generally. Water changes to manage mineral build up in water only essentially.

Rimless 900x45x450 aquarium. First set up in 2021.

Hardscaped and planted heavily.

Fluval 207 canister filter and everything you see in the photos included, including the stand which is custom made out of 25mm laminated bamboo. Have glass aquarium bits so it's not as visible.

Programmable LED light.

Current stock is one geriatric neon tetra (my tetra's were all original when the aquarium started and have slowly dropped off in the last year).

4-5 (not sure buggers won't stay still to count) Borneo suckers/loaches - I leave the algae on some of the glass that grows where the sunlight hits it for these guys as they seem to like it. These were all also added not long after the tank was set up so based on the lifespan on google they are likely all geriatric as well.

An indeterminate number of kuhli loaches (possibly zero - I very rarely see them). I presume these guys have bred in this tank before as we saw a very small kuhli in the tank a few years after set up and all the originals were quite large.

E-mail me if keen. Don't want any money for it, would prefer someone experience with planted tanks and interested in keeping the existing livestock have it for their enjoyment.

I'm currently renting and also not an experienced fishkeeper by any means, so while I tried to give him a good life in a 65L tank, I'm not in a position to get into fishkeeping as I know he needs to be in a bigger tank or pond.

I'm not actually sure of its sex but just went with 'he'. He's a lively guy, will swim around and follow (basically begging for a feed). Really hardy fish.

Please let me know if you have a suitable environment for my lovely fish to be in. 

I'm also happy to rehome him with his current tank + 2x small driftwood & 1x java fern + tank stand + HOB filter + food + accessories for free.

I have a 280 - 300L tank I am shutting down. It has been running over 22 years now. If someone wants it, they are welcome to it but it needs complete resealing and there are light scratches on the glass, although I suspect if you turned it around the back side may be a lot better. Good for a frog tank or terrarium though. Everything is free except the filter. I would like to see that sold as a fully cycled item, rather than get rid of the fish then have the bacteria in the filter starve. I am embarrassed how bad it looks these days but we were finding it increasingly difficult to do regular maintenance and now Grant has died, I can't manage the filter by myself (back problems).

Tank - 122cm wide x 50 x 54cm front to back. Glass is 1cm thick and takes 3 or 4 strong people to lift, unless it is dismantled on site (preferably after it is empty 🙂 ). It has 2 sheets of thinner glass on top that the fluorescents sit on but has about a 10cm gap.

Lighting: Single old-style fluorescent tube in even older-style bracket, with timer.

Filter: Aqua One Aquis 1200 and must be picked up (especially if full of bacteria etc as it is heavy). $100 (they retail $160 - $200 new)

Heating: External heat pad covering tank base with internal thermostat.

Fish: 50 - 60 Odessa barbs, 2 or 3 gold ancistrus (1 is a huge male) and about 7 brown ancistrus (a mix of sexes). May be more but I never see them all at once.
These fish have never been with any other fish, as nothing has been added to the tank for at least 15 years - all are self populated.

Plants: Java moss, Cryptocoryne affinis (I think), Anubias nana. Sorry but the Anubias has a lot of algae.

Substrate etc: Brown aquarium gravel and 2 large rimu pices of driftwood.

You will probably be given all sorts of other aquatic paraphernalia, including extra filter media (if you want it)

I would rather they went to a good home than the highest bidder. If you can provide a good home make an offer and I will except it. I'm in the market for community fish or plants if you want to trade. If you can provide an awesome home but aren't in a position to pay or trade I will consider giving them to you.

Im in New Plymouth. I have shipped fish plenty of times before. But these guys are pretty huge for shipping. I can get poly big boxes but wouldn't have a clue were to get a bag big enough for them.  Courier would be expensive But if you can provide big enough bags and pay all cost involved in shipping I will considered it.
