  1. Okay so now I'm confused. I guess I'll wait and see if we get given access or if the information is given to us some other way. Maybe you could send me the information you have done for your members and I'll pass that on to ours? I was planning to get one of our delegates to sign on and screen print the whole lot so we could see it but this seems like a complicated and difficult duplication if you have already done that work. Thanks for you help so far.
  2. Caryl said officers should have access and I just let her know KMAC exec and others didn't, it's not a big deal. Although it is difficult to discuss something when you don't have access to it. What anti fnzas views? Why do you and a couple of other exec members seem to have this anti KMAC issue going (yes I have already seen the comments attacking KMAC in the thread)? KMAC and myself have done nothing but support FNZAS, we are the biggest financial supporters, I strongly promote the Web site to customers, and by far KMAC have brought the most new members to FNZAS. I have been polite, clarified and apologized to Adrienne when there was the slightest hint that I might have quoted her out of context. I think you need to calm down a little bit, all I want is access to the information so that when the club meets we can see all the suggestions and consider every bodies views.
  3. Correct but there is a huge volume of information in the thread, it seems pointless sending the first hour of a meeting reading. But that aside I understood one of the points raised at the committee meeting was how important it is to give all information to every one and get as much responces from as many people as possible, not opening access to the information seems counter intuitive to this.
  4. I'm not really sure how I have quoted you out of context but I apologize anyway. As you've said your email was to Pres, Sec, and Delegates, my question to you was.....
  5. email from Adrienne From the brief look I have had of the thread I saw the subject of who has access had also been raised and "delegates only" was stated there as well. Thanks for looking into this, Warren has PMed me asking of officer names so I well let him sort it out.
  6. Hello Caryl, as a club officer can I have access to the form please. I asked in reply to the email but was told access was restricted to FNZAS exec and delegates only. Also none of the other club officers for KMAC or any of the Wellington clubs have access can you please arrange access for them too please. Thanks in advance, until now it's been difficult for us to see whats been going on since one of our delegates has recently had a baby and the other has been at sea. Regards Craig Pres KMAC
  7. Like most things fish related it's not a black and white answer. But in general you wouldn't use a canister filter on a marine tank, the reason being they work very well for filtration which results in nitrate, a very bad thing for invertebrates. Where a canister might be handy is for holding chemical media, like phosphate resin, or for zeolite, or maybe if your running a fish only tank and don't have invertebrates. But I think your main confusion has started because the discussion has moved to sumps in general, not just marine tank sumps.
  8. 10% is close enough, you only change a percentage of your tank water so if its out by a little bit it's out by even less by the time it's in your tank. And the important thing is the salinity of the tank, a lot of other things will change the salinity more like evaporation. The decision between ASW and NSW is about things other than the parameters being spot on. Even with synthetic salt the parameters change between brands and even between batches. There have been lots of debates round the merits and risks of each, have a bit of a search.
  9. I don't know where this thing about NSW water parameters being out comes from, they are all fine other than the salinity, and to fix that you just add 10% fresh water. Unless you do something silly like collect after rain or near a river mouth, NZ NSW will be 1.027
  10. Salifert are the tests used by most reefers
  11. Most apartment complexes have a "body corporate" which limit what pets etc you can have. It make no difference if you own the apartment or not.
  12. I'd start the other way round, get your rock now and start cycling it, and worry about bulbs later. Your mostly better off having the lights off if anyway (unless there is good live on the the live rock that you want to keep going). A skimmer does make life simpler, but on a tank that small it isn't completely necessary, doing 50% water changes each week is only going to be 20 odd liters so not a big deal to do and would be plenty yo keep your water parameters under control. I'd also replace the contents of the standard filter with either chemical media (like a PO4 resin etc) and/or coral rubble.
  13. Your not comparing apples with apples, the M series Fluval would be the same as the Jagar. The E series has electronic temperature control, where as the Jager has the metal strips and contacts that are less inaccurate and can jam on.

Marine guys usually assume GST once the value goes over $300, but like most government agencies it depends on luck of the draw. Some shippers will mark the package as a gift which helps and also suggest having it delivered to a private address rather than a business address
  15. I use Eucalyptus oil mixed with water in a spray bottle, it does a great job the trick is to only use a tiny amount. I guess tea tree oil would work as well.
