Welcome to Aquarium World the website of the Federation of New Zealand Aquatic Societies, we are the largest and oldest aquarium organisation in New Zealand and have been serving the hobby for over 60 years.

We have developed this new website to better serve our community and project our aims, we also have recently had a revamp of our magazine (Link: http://issuu.com/fnzasaw/docs/aquarium_world_august_2013 ).

What do we have to offer? We are the key source for NZ fishkeeping hobby/aquarium related information including databases of freshwater and marine NZ native fish species; NZ native aquatic plant species; and New Zealand biosecurity issues that affect aquatic hobbyists. We offer a number of educational resources including best-practice guides to sustainable fishkeeping, aquatic forums, and resources where fishkeepers can search for more information. We represent aquatic hobbyists in New Zealand at a national level to governmental organisations such as the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric research (NIWA), the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), and Department of Conservation (DOC). We also represent hobbyists at a local level by promoting fishkeeping clubs, aquatic rescue organisations, and tradespeople & retailers who supply our hobby. Our flagship publication Aquarium World Magazine, offers readers a view of fishkeeping in New Zealand that is both relevant, and interesting at a local and global level.

We are a non-profit organisation and in an effort to be financially sustainable, and to fund promotional activities related to the hobby, we are going to include advertising on our website and magazine. We want to attract good advertisers that reflect our values and design aesthetic so we are offering 1 month of free advertising on the website when it goes live.
